Celebrating Imperfection

I bite my nails. I go to bed too late (although I know better). I eat too much candy, and I'm messy. I forget where I put my house keys, or my cell phone, or my wallet, on a daily base. I haven't given any birthday gifts this year (although I do have them, in a box somewhere). I can't sing well or play an instrument. In fact, I don't know how to do anything very well. I haven't exercised in ages. I'm always out of cash. If I could, I'd wear sweatpants all day, every day.

But I love to laugh, and I laugh often and loud. I jump and skip and run with my three-year old. I sing in the shower. I carry my baby even when my back aches. I cuddle with my children, constantly. I love my husband. My mom is my best friend. I enjoy life. I am me. I'm alive. I'm too alive to be perfect.

Join me in Brené Brown's protest against perfectionism. (via Susannah Conway).

I love this posts. And the fact that you know your worth. It isn't all about the talent that shows outside. It's the spirit that is inside you. And you have a BIG spirit! You are the best.

That's the person I remember when thinking about you ;). Think that's a nice idea kind of protesting against being perfect. Maybe i'll go with it and post my view of this campaign.

Hear hear! I loved seeing this at Susannah Conway's and now here! Couldn't agree more (and who defines perfect anyway? Someone's idea of perfect might be someone else's idea of hideously high-maintenance or trivial :)). Love the little ones (and the littlest one holding the sign!)...the things that matter are the things that make you happy...

Mehehehe...I think I'll join in. I just had an idea pop into my head reading all this for a little poster sign slogan. We'll see...

Not only are your words brilliant and true, the pictures adorable, fun and vibrant - the message is maybe one of the most important concering health and true happiness. The thoughts of being flawed and defective will make you sick, and your whole life becomes shame-based. It's killing the soul. I will definitely join, and thank you, Isa!
