Our cranky day cure/wild craziness overload neutralizer/"boredoom booster": Color baths!

All you need is a bathtub, water, and various flasks of food coloring. Seeing how the water changes color from blue to green, or from red to orange, etc is a big hit with the 3-year old. She usually thinks she is a mermaid bathing in "magic water"...

What's an easy activity you do with your kids on a cranky day? (I need more tips, we've been having a lot of them lately.)

To see a helpful list of tons of other "boredom boosters" for miserable weather and the like, click here.

Happy Monday!

I'd tell you, but to be honest...we haven't really had any cranky days, or if so then they've been so rare I just can't remember. So we just do all the usual - dancing, singing, book reading, library trips, zoo trips, children's museum trips, pet store trips, cuddling, drawing, painting, play-doh, crafts, playing with her toys, or just watching a movie...I might try some food color though. Does it not stain the skin?

You haven't had cranky days?!!! Wow. That makes you the only person I know. Then again, if that list is typical of all the things you do during the day, I'm not surprised. Our cranky days are usually the result of a sleepless night, too many things to do aka stress, whining, no energy to handle it... etc.

Haha, well, we've had a few cranky moments. But seeing how Sophia sleeps 12-13 hours at night, and then still takes an average of 2-3 hours nap each day, sleep deprivation is just not a problem for either one of us right now. Maybe that's why Sophia is happy and chipper all the time. And we don't do all the stuff on my list each day, but usually spend time reading books, playing, doings something artsy, and then often times doing one trip somewhere per day (pet store, or library, or zoo, or museum or whatever...). Though honestly, in the last fews days it's been a lot of movies, and just stuff at home. :)

I just lucked out. I'm sure my spoiled life will be over in a few weeks.

Very cool! Well.. usually a plain ol bubble bath works for us.. : ) Compared to this though.. it's kind of boring..

wow, this is so cool! just a regular bath still works for my girls, but this is a great idea to keep in case of emergency :D

I don't have any great ideas for cranky days... the bath, baking, anything the girls don't get to do that often.

we make goo - http://bedtimemonsters.blogspot.com/2010/09/things-to-make-goo.htmlon sick days and cranky days (or playdough - http://bedtimemonsters.blogspot.com/2010/11/things-to-make-homemade-play-dough.html) giving the kids something to do with their hands tends to help get their moodiness out. hope this helps! I love your blog!
